Food sampling drive by MCD begins

The food sampling drive being undertaken by the Health Department and Municipal Corporation of Dehradun continued on Monday with samples being collected from about half a dozen shops in different areas of the town.

The MCD officials collected samples of dairy products and food items to be checked for adulteration. However, observer’s state that the food sampling drive undertaken in the city has failed to have the desired effect on the sale of adulterated food items. So far the MCD has collected food samples from dozens of shops action against those found selling adulterated items is likely to be initiated much later after the festival of Diwali.

According to the Dehradun senior city health officer Dr Gurpal Singh, a team comprising of MCD officials collected samples of dairy products and food items from about half a dozen shops in localities including Patelnagar, ISBT and Turner Road area.
