G. Somashekara Reddy, MLA, on Thursday performed bhoomi puja for an underground drainage system in ward number 22 here.

He said that the construction of the underground drainage system would be taken up soon in all the wards, including slums, and completed at the earliest. He appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the Government and the authorities in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.

Parvathi Indushekar, Mayor; Sashikala, Deputy Mayor; and M. Yunus, executive engineer of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board, were present.
