Army, public, BBMP join hands to clean up ring road
The Inner Ring Road, stretching from Ejipura
signal to Domlur, is set to receive a much-needed spell of maintenance.
The stretch has long been in a dilapidated condition.
Bruhat
Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Siddaiah who was
present during the intensive cleaning drive on Sunday assured the public
and army staff from the ASC Centre (North) who use the stretch that
additonal initiatives will be taken to improve the road’s condition.
“Directions will be given to BBMP officials to maintain the road’s
footpath and also to make sure that it remains clean,” he said.
Organised
by Manpreet Kaur Juneja, who roped in the BBMP, the ASC Centre as well
as officials from the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited
(Bescom), the cleanliness drive was witness to nearly 200 participants
who painted footpath edges, cleared trash from the road and removed
weeds from footpath. This was the first cleanliness campaign in which
that army troops from ASC Centre (North), members of the public and BBMP
officials worked together.
“The road has been neglected for a
long time,” Juneja said. “The footpath is in an especially bad condition
with trash and weeds accumulated on the edges. We hope that the road
will be restored to its proper condition at the earliest.”
