Meeting to deal with Doon sanitation issues

Taking cognisance of public complaints regarding improper civic sanitation works in the municipal area, Rajpur Road MLA Raj Kumar has requested the Urban Development Minister to call a meeting with officials concerned and direct them to take necessary measures.

The MLA also called the senior city health officer and directed him to improve sanitation work in the city.

Raj Kumar said that the level of civic sanitation has deteriorated in the city and the Doon Valley Waste Management, contracted to undertake door to door collection of garbage and its disposal is not doing its work efficiently.

The efforts undertaken by the government for ensuring sanitation in Doon are inadequate which poses a public health risk and deteriorates the environment.

He said that garbage containers should be placed in spots from where they were removed and that DVWM should increase its staff strength in order to facilitate civic sanitation in the 60 municipal wards of Dehradun.

He has requested the Urban Development Minister to call a meeting with officials concerned on Monday and direct them to take necessary measures.
