Vadodara Municipal Corporation sends sanitation teams to Bharuch

VADODARA: With the threat of a possible epidemic looming large over Bharuch following the recent floods, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has sent a team of sanitation workers to the town to take care of the situation. The team will work in coordination with the officials in Bharuch to clean the city.

VMC officials said that sanitation was a major concern in the aftermath of a flood in at any place, particularly urban areas. To ensure that the sludge, dead animals and dead vegetation left behind by the flood do not lead to an epidemic, the administration has decided to conduct a major cleanliness drive in Bharuch.

VMC officials said that a team of 51 personnel working for sanitation in the city left for Bharuch on Tuesday. The team has been given material for cleaning as well as disinfectants for working in Bharuch.

"While there is no disease outbreak in Bharuch, the team has been sent to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to ensure that this does not happen. The cleaning up of the town is possible now as water is fast receding there," said a VMC official. The official added that to ensure that the night sweeping and other sanitation tasks in the city do not suffer, four workers have been taken from each ward so that there is no shortage of manpower in any ward.
