Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike launches cleaning drive in KR Market

BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in association with students of APS College launched the cleaning drive in Krishna Rajendra (KR) Market here on Monday.

The programme was inaugurated by BS Sathyanarayana, mayor of BBMP. The Palike has constituted 20 teams, which include students and pourakarmiks and these teams will clean the KR Market on every Mondays from 8am to 12 noon.

Around 500 students and 150 pourakarmiks took part in this cleaning drive.

Addressing the gathering during the programme, Ramalinga Reddy, transport minister, urged shopkeepers of KR Market to maintain cleanliness at the premises of the market. He told shopkeepers to clean the waste materials every day, in view of preventing pollution of environment. Around 20 lorries and goods autorickshaws will be used for this intense cleaning project.
