Vadodara Municipal Corporation focuses on sanitation, health

VADODARA: With waters beginning to recede in the city, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) now faces the challenge of dealing with sanitation and health conditions in the areas under its limits. The civic body has asked its officials not to let their guard down and work at the same pace as they did during the floods.

VMC mayor Bharat Shah said ward offices had been given authority to rope in additional sanitary workers and ensure that cleanliness is taken care of. Additional vehicles and machinery have been roped into pick up garbage.

The civic body has also started hyperchlorination of water supply at source to take care of any possible contamination. VMC commissioner Manish Bhardwaj said medical teams were working in affected areas to create awareness and examine residents.
