MCD officials meet to discuss sanitation issues

In order to redress the deteriorating sanitation level in the State capital, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, MH Khan, presided over a meeting with the officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) here on Wednesday.

Mukhya Nagar Adhikari at MCD, Ashok Kumar said that in the meeting it was decided that the management responsibility of the trenching ground would be equally divided into two sections. One part would be handed over to the Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) company while the remaining part would be managed by the MCD.

Kumar also informed that the responsibility of construction of trenching ground at Sheesambada would be looked after by the company officials. He added that the company officials were also instructed to redress the worsening sanitation level in the town within one week.

He stated that the MCD has already withdrawn 20 out of 60 wards from the company to ensure proper sanitation arrangement in the city. MCD would be looking after the sanitation works in these 20 wards and the company has been given responsibility of remaining 40 wards of the town. Kumar said that, the remaining issues like the amendments to be made in the agreement of the company and MCD would be discussed later in another meeting with the Princpal Secretary.
