Citizens cautioned against eating out

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has cautioned citizens against having outside food and water during summer to avoid any health problems. The civic body has issued a notice appealing people to drink boiled water if there are cases of high temperature, gastro or or dysentery in their localities. The citizens should not use water from canal, well and bore well either for drinking or washing vegetables and fruits, said the notice. The civic administration appealed the citizens not to drink juices with ice prepared for industrial purpose as it could of poor quality. The citizens should not have liquid that has factory made ice, it said. If citizens notice any leakage in the drainage system, a complaint should be registered with the civic authorities or and at ward offices. Citizens should take precautionary measure while using swimming pools. Those with fever, vomiting or dysentery should immediately take medical treatment. The private medical practitioners should inform the civic administration of patients with symptoms of water borne disease. It said that the 14 ward offices of the civic body have been directed to seize food material being sold in open and initiate action against those selling them. The citizens can get treatment for any infection in civic hospitals including Naidu Hospital.

NCP-Cong nominate 17 members for ward committees
The NCP-Congress alliance in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Monday dominated the nomination list for the member of ward committee. The civic body nominates three members each to the 14 ward committees. The NCP managed to get in its 17 members while its alliance partner got 13 of its members on various committees. The Shiv Sena and BJP got six members each nominated on the committee.

Census 2011: 700 civic workers get memo
The PMC on Monday issued memo to 700 of its staff for not attending the training programme for population census 2011. Assistant census officer Pravin Ashtikar said the civic body would register offence against civic staff, following the chief secretary’s direction to initiate action against those showing negligence in performing duty assigned for the population census. The civic body has engaged 7,116 of it employees for the population census. They have been directed to carry out the census work for 45 days along with their daily office work.
