City corporation, Health Department carry out fogging

The district medical team joined hands with the  City Corporation to carry out fogging in the Corporation limits to ward off mosquitoes on Sunday. Out of the 32 fogging machines deployed, 20 belonged to the City Corporation and the rest to the Health Department. The drive, that began at 7.30 am, was carried out based on a route map prepared by the Health Department.

“This is a special campaign we have started in the city on identifying more dengue cases in the Corporation area. Health Department alone does not have sufficient hands to carry out the drive and hence Corporation workers were also roped in,” said a senior health official.

As it is difficult to carry out fogging when it rains, Sunday was chosen for the programme. The Dry Day observance was also held alongside.

Other than the Corporation limits, two areas in the periphery were also included in the programme, said the official.

Mobile dispensaries in South Corporation villages

NEW DELHI, 27 JUNE: South Corporation has decided to provide mobile dispensaries in its rural villages which are still lacking health facilities. The corporation will purchase four mobile dispensaries as a pilot project and all the rural villages will be covered in a phased manner.  "The rural villages lack proper health facilities and dispensaries. Moreover, the doctors don't join their rural postings which further hampers health facilities in these areas," said Rajesh Gehlot, Chairman of Standing Committee in South Corporation.

He was on inspection of nine rural villages along with the municipal commissioner today. The chairman directed the commissioner to purchase four mobile dispensaries and deploy them in these areas on a priority basis. The villages inspected on Thursday are Bindrapur, Hasanpur, Nangli, Sakrawati, Kharkhari Nahar, Goyla Khurd, Kharkhari Jatmal, Tajpur Khurd and Kharkhari Rohand of Najafgarh and west zone.

"One mobile van for 3 to 4 villages would be deployed depending on their population in two shifts," added Gehlot. The villagers complained that even for minor ailments they have to travel 10 kms to visit a hospital. He also launched a 20-point programme in village Kharkhari Nahar, under which all the lanes and drains will be cleaned and reconstructed.
