Mayor directs BMC officials to repair damaged roads

Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Taking a strict view of the city roads that were left damaged during the development work, Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur on Thursday issued directives for the repair of these roads. She was reviewing the developmental work of Zone 5 and 6.

Notably, a number of roads in the city have not been repaired after they were left damaged by an exercise to lay water supply and sewage lines.

Taking stock of the work being carried out under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and project Uday, the Mayor directed officials to initiate the projects as soon as the formalities are completed.

Reviewing the sanitation at busy markets in the old as well as new city areas, the officials were further directed to resume the night cleanliness drives.

The Mayor also issued directives for laying of water supply pipelines at Aradhana Nagar, Panchsheel Nagar and Rahul Nagar and told officials to organise camps to register new tap connections in these areas.

She said that any development work initiated in a locality under any head should always be brought to the knowledge of the local Corporator, especially as the Corporators have, in the past, complained, that officials do not take them into confidence, before initiating the work.

BMC Commissioner Manish Singh, who also remained present on the occasion, briefed officials on revenue collection.
