Mohali admn to beautify roads between Phase IV & II

Prabhmeet Luthra | Mohali

Soon the roads in Phase IV of Mohali will get a new look with trees on both sides under the city administration’s plan to beautify and widen them.

The link road between Phase IV and Phase II would be taken up on a priority basis. Due to increased vehicular traffic, the residents had been demanding for long to widen this road, and the administration has finally swung into action.

It is significant that Booth market of Phase IV is one of the busiest in Mohali city. Traffic jam outside this market is a major problem due to less parking space in proportionate to the vehicles which are around 800. The traffic is a nightmare in the evening.

According to councilor, he had proposed a slip road on entry point to GMADA nine months back. After long discussions, GMADA and District Town Planner (DTP) approved the proposal. The construction work will start after the Engineering Wing of GMADA prepare its estimate.

According to information, there will be two slip roads — one in front of Mandir and second will be adjoining with ten Marla houses. Pavers will be constructed behind seven houses to widen the road.

The implementation of the proposal will solve the problem of heavy traffic flow and parking space will also increase. Divider will be constructed on T-point near Gurudwara for handling traffic.

Besides, Ringer Street light will be installed there. All work will start in the next few days.
