Banaswadi residents' plea

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Residents of Banaswadi and surrounding areas demanded that the traffic congestion at Maruthi Sevanagar flyover be first solved before road widening is taken up. At a meeting with officials here on Tuesday, the residents said that the flyover had caused a bottleneck and if the road is to be widened, the situation would only become more chaotic.

N. Ramesh, Secretary, Residents Welfare Association Bangalore East, urged the BBMP officials to first make the modifications before taking up road widening. The BBMP proposed to widen the five-km stretch of Banaswadi Main Road to 24 metres.

Residents were not happy with the TDR option offered and have been demanding monetary compensation on par with market rate. BBMP must pay compensation to property owners, said Mr. Ramesh.
