Rs.300 crore set aside for road development

 Repair of Thrissur-Ollur-Thalore road beginsThe UDF government is committed to improving infrastructure facilities in the State, Minister for Public Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the repair works of the Thrissur-Ollur-Thalore road here on Friday.The road has been developed at a cost of Rs.9.13 crore.

Amount earmarked

“An amount of Rs.300 crore has been earmarked for the development of major roads in the State.The Thrissur Corporation has been allotted Rs.35 core for developing roads in the city,” the Minister said.

Road widening

Responding to a complaint about traffic congestion at Ollur junction, the Minister said that if land was made available, the road widening work could be started in 10 days.

Reasonable compensation

The government was ready to give reasonable compensation to those evicted for their land, he said.M.P. Vincent, MLA, presided over the function. Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA, Mayor I.P. Paul and others participated.

Renovation begins

The Minister also inaugurated the renovation work of the Puchetty-Eravimangalam-Puthur Road, to be done at Rs.50 lakh.The Peechi-Vilangankunnu Road will also be repaired at a cost of Rs.3 crore.
