MC roads committee recommends re-carpeting V-6 roads every 4 years

The Roads Committee of the Municipal Corporation has recommended changes in the policy to carpet roads. It has been proposed that the V-6 roads that are present in the residential areas be carpeted every four years instead of five.

The proposal was mooted in a meeting of the committee held on Thursday. The V-6 roads are those which are present in front of houses. Roads in the city are carpeted after five years. The committee members recommended that while for the other roads, carpeting could be done after five years, for the V-6 roads it should be done in four years.

The members also opined that the places to throw construction waste should be designated in low-lying areas. Awareness about the same would be created through issuing public notices. The committee decided that preference would be given to development of villages and colonies. The status report of the ongoing and pending works recommended by the committee in the last year were sought.

The committee approved the estimates for the special repair of the fire station building at Industrial Area, Phase II. An amount of Rs 14.47 lakh was approved for the same. The estimates for providing and fixing 60 mm thick paver blocks around parks on V-6 road have also been approved. The damaged boundary wall in Sector 46 will be repaired.

The committee has approved laying of paver blocks at several places including cow shed at Industrial Area Phase I and Sector 26. The V-6 roads in Police Colony and Water Works Colony in Sector 26 would be carpeted. The V-3 road between Phase 1 and 3 of Bapu Dham would also be carpeted.

A retaining wall will be constructed on Railway Road, Mauli Complex for which Rs 24 lakh was approved. An athletic track would be constructed at the sports stadium at village Dadumajra. Estimates for renovation of civil dispensary in Sector 40 as well as another one in Maloya Colony was approved.
