Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: About 500 families living on encroached land in Gulabithota and Sunderaiah Nagar will be relocated and allotted houses in the Jakkampudi Housing colony and Radha Nagar Housing Project by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation shortly.

While there are about 350 families in Gulabithota, there are nearly 150 families in Sundaraiah Nagar taking the total to 500 families.

Earlier these families were waiting for the houses to be completed, but now they are ready to stay in rented accommodation, the officials say.

Another four months were required to make the houses in the Jakkampudi house colony fit for occupation. The Corporation will issue allotment letters with immediate effect for those who are ready to move out now the officials say. VMC officials say that the required formalities like enumeration of family members, photographic of iris have already been completed.

As there are only 80 houses at Radha Nagar, some of the families in Sundaraiah Nagar will be accommodated in Jakkampudi. The allotment of houses in the two different colonies will be made on the basis of lorry. The houses at Radha Nagar are already complete and ready for occupation.
