Sites selected for construction of shelter houses in Bhopal

The sites have been selected for construction of shelter houses (Ren Basera) in Bhopal for poor people coming to the capital in search of employment. These houses will be constructed at an estimated cost of `30 lakh on plots measuring about 2,500 square feet. The proposed houses will have separate rooms for women and men workers apart from bathroom and toilets for night halt. Most of the houses would be located near bus stands, railway stations and the construction sites.

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has earmarked sites for the proposed houses in all the directions in the capital. As per the plan, these houses are proposed to be constructed at Halalpura Bus Stand, Putlighar Bus Stand, Bhopal and Habibganj Railway Stations, Jumerati, Hamidia Hospital, Sehore Naka Bairagarh, Karond Chauraha, DIG Bungalow, Chhola Dussehra Maidan, Raisen Road, Hoshangabad Road, Jawahar Chowk, Nehru Nagar, Kolar Chauraha, Sabzi Mandi, Gandhinagar and in Pulbogda locality. These Ren Baseras would be constructed with the funds to be provided by the Department of Social Justice. For this, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation has sought an amount of `5 crore 35 lakh.

It may be further mentioned that the proposed Ren Baseras would also house room for watchman or caretaker besides courtyard and Ram Roti Room In addition to this, arrangements will be made for drinking water, electricity, mats, blankets and fans at these shelter houses. The visitors making night halt at these Ren Baseras will be charged Rs. two for one night. Besides, they will be provided Ram Roti on a coupon of value of Rs. five. The Ram Roti packet will include six rotis, cooked vegetable with gravy, onion, green chilly and pickle etc.
