Deadline for verification of DDA house allottees extended to July 15

Staff Reporter

Five per cent yet to prove their genuineness, show documents

With 5 per cent of successful allottees for the 16,000 flats under the DDA Housing Scheme-2010 yet to appear for verification of documents and proving their genuineness, the Authority has extended the last date for verification of documents to July 15.

The new deadline, which has been revised twice now, followed complaints that some of allottees had not yet received letters inviting them to complete the verification process.

The DDA said this would be the last opportunity for verification of documents and genuineness, and after July 15 the housing agency would start the process of cancellation of allotment in the case of defaulters. The issuing of demand-cum-allotment letters is expected to begin in the last week of July.

Copies of the demand letters will also be sent to the Income Tax Department which will verify that the payments for the allotted flats will flow through the bank accounts, details of which have been submitted by the allottees. The measure is expected to curtail manipulation of the system by real-estate dealers.

DDA Commissioner (Housing) Asma Manzar, however, said it was not clear whether the 5 per cent who are yet to show up for verification of documents are genuine allottees who are probably non-residents of Delhi and yet to receive the letter summoning them for verification, or persons unable to prove their genuineness. She added that advertisements would be placed in national newspapers over the weekend to intimate allottees on extension of the deadline.

Ms. Manzar said that 230 people have so far surrendered their allotment. The DDA has already put out a list of 432 wait-listed allottees in the general category and 168 in the reservation category who are eligible to receive the surrendered and unclaimed flats. The wait-listed persons will be contacted by the DDA.

  • It is the last opportunity for verification

  • Following it, allotments to be cancelled, houses to be passed to persons in waiting list
