Loans on priority to allottees of houses under JNNURM

Special Correspondent

GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu recently said that bank loans would be made available on a priority to persons allotted houses in the colonies developed under the JNNURM scheme and contributing 10 per cent of unit cost.

Announcing the successful signing of a memorandum between the banks and the APUFIDC for sanctioning a loan of up to Rs. 80,000 for each beneficiary, he pointed out that 19,1919 have already handed over their 10 per cent contributions of the 21,594 chosen.

Directive to SBH

The government has released Rs. 102 crore through a Government Order, which in turn, has settled the problem of drinking water connectivity to the various housing colonies for the poor which are well outside the geographical circle of the municipal corporation.

The Commissioner directed SBH officials to designate certain banks as JNNURM banks for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medak districts in order to sanction bank loans. The engineering officials concerned were directed to make available the necessary details and maps to agencies like the A.P Industrial Technical Consultancy Organisation (APITCO) to help document the work of loan disbursal.

Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medak Collectors are to issue notices to allottees to pay up the remaining amount before September-end or face the prospect of the unit being allocated to another person. A few houses could be spared for accommodating the people being evicted from the storm water drains too as a means of rehabilitation.

Slum dwellers paying the 10 per cent contribution should be identified in Hyderabad district so that the in-situ construction of new dwelling can be taken up, he said.
