Houses for 1000 slum-dwellers

CUTTACK: Chief minister NaveenPatnaik of Monday spent a busy day in Millennium City inaugurating and laying the foundation of many projects. Naveen laid the foundation stone of Rs 25 croreRajivAwasYojana (RAY) at MundaSahi to provide cheap concrete houses to 1,000 slum-dwellers.

He also laid the foundation stone for streetlights from the Biju Patnaik Park till Naraj Barrage. The Rs 60 lakh project will be completed by Cuttack Municipal Corporation by June. The foundation stone for the new building of Odisha Administrative Tribunal was also laid down by Naveen.

The chief minister tried to woo the women and disabled by distributing loans among SHGs and wheelchairs and tri-cycles to the handicapped. A special meeting was organised at the Saheed Bhawan where Patnaik distributed pension among 25 disabled persons.

The CM also inaugurated the OCA Club and the swimming pool built inside Barabati stadium by Odisha. The OCA club has17 luxurious double-bed rooms, a cafeteria, table tennis room, conference hall, state-of- the-art gymnasium and many other facilities. "Our swimmers were facing problem due to lack of swimming pool but now their problem has been solved. We have also hired coaches to train them," said secretary of OCA Asirbad Behera.
