BBMP gets Cabinet nod to raise loan

The State Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval for the BBMP to get Rs 2,200 crore from Hudco to take up various infrastructure projects in Bangalore.
  

The loan amount will be spent in a span of three years from 2009-12. An empowered committee headed by the CM will oversee implementation of these projects. The BBMP has already taken up the tendering process by taking in principle approval from the CM, Home Minister V S Acharya told reporters after the cabinet meeting.


Besides, an approval was given to the BBMP to raise another Rs 250 crore from the financial institutions to implement projects in 2009-10 fiscal.

It was also decided in the cabinet to implement Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Vima Yojane in BBMP limits. The scheme is being introduced for the benefit of pourakarmikas, safai karmacharies and autorickshaw drivers, the Minister said.


Minister said the ownership of all government land in undeclared slums in Bangalore will be transferred to the BBMP, which in turn will give katha certificate to the dwellers.
