Court directive to set up waste treatment plants
A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday directed the State government and local bodies to establish sewage and toilet waste treatment plants at convenient places in the State within a time frame.
The Bench comprising Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair and Justice Bhabani Prasad Ray directed the Chief Secretary to coordinate with the secretaries of the Departments of Health, Local Self-Government, Finance, Tourism, Revenue and Home to ensure that the plants were set up without delay.
The Bench issued the directive when a writ petition filed by High Court lawyer R. Sudha seeking a directive to set up a sewage treatment plant at Munnar came up for hearing.
