Patna Municipal Corporation holds meet on solid waste collection

PATNA: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), on Tuesday, held a pre-bid meeting with over 30 different companies interested in door-to-door collection and transportation of solid waste in the state capital. The PMC had floated the tender on October 21 for the same.

"Various companies have put forward their suggestions regarding the machines and equipment to be used and other requirements. We have noted down their proposals and would carry out necessary changes," said Shashank Shekhar Sinha, additional commissioner, PMC. December 10 is the last date for submission of proposals while technical bidding would open the next day.

This is central government project under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for garbage collection service and buying equipment for solid waste management. The company applying for the project would have to provide 29 medium sized tippers, 15 large sized tippers, two hydraulic excavator-70, three hydraulic excavator-200, four jetting cum suction machines, 820 handcarts, 505 containerized tricycle rickshaw with plastic containers, 8 bins, 1,950 garbage container bins (steel), 12 skid steer loader, ten loader back hoe, seven very large range municipal application compactor vehicle with hydraulic tipping/ejection system, 14 large range municipal application compactor vehicle with hydraulic tipping/ejection system, 151 small range municipal application vehicle (without compactor) with hydraulic tipping. The PMC has been allocated Rs36.95 crore under the JNNURM.

The PMC also floated tender on November 11 for construction and repair of manholes, catch-pits (including covers) in Bankipore area. The pre-bid date for is December 2, which is also the last date for submission of proposals. Technical bid will be opened on December 3. The expected amount for constructing and repairing manholes and catch-pits in Bankipore area is around Rs14.17 lakh. The selected company will be expected to complete the task within two months from the work assigning date.
