Civic body rakes in Rs 198 cr in property tax

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration had a record collection of Rs 198.25 crore of property tax by the end of the first two months of 2010-11. The collection was Rs 54 crore in April and crossedRs 140 crore deposited in May. The enthusiastic response to the revenue collection is being attributed to the civic body’s scheme of 10 per cent rebate in general tax if paid by May-end. The civic body has also offered five per cent rebate to properties with eco friendly measures.
