Rajkot civic body collects Rs 46 crores as advance tax

RAJKOT: The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has started advance property tax collections from the city with giving incentives to advance tax payers in the city and it has already collected Rs 46 crore as advance property tax.

"People are queue up at various centers of tax collections of RMC as RMC has offered 10 percent rebate on advance tax payment to general people and 15 percent rebate to women property holders. We are getting good response from the citizen and are hopeful that more people would come forward and would pay their advance property tax'' said an RMC official.

RMC officials said that more than 1 lakh tax payers have paid tax in advance in the city. RMC officials also said that they have set target of Rs 180 crore of property tax during 2013-14 financial years in the city. During the 2012-13 financial years, RMC collected Rs 160 crore as property tax from the city.
