KMC to deliver house tax bills from next week

KANPUR: House tax bills would be delivered to the residents from next week.

The bills would be in accordance with the new tax which is 10% more. According to sources, more than 4.5 lakhs bills have to be sent to the people.

Additional municipal commissioner Uday Narayan Tiwari stated that delivery of bills would commence from next week and by July 15 all the bills would be delivered.

The state had increased 10% in current financial year. Initially municipal corporation had proposed to enhance house tax at the rate of 15%. But corporators and local residents had opposed it.

The matter was referred to the state government it had decided to enhance house tax in Kanpur at the rate of 10%.

Tax payers wait for July every year as municipal corporation used to announce a rebate of 10% on house tax payments. For that, KMC used to deliver bills in June every year.

A resident of Swarupnagar said that KMC had to extend the date of rebate as residents would need at least 30 days in depositing the house tax.
