BMC corporators, staff take part in cookery contest

Woman corporators and staff of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) took part in a competition to test their culinary skills on Wednesday.

This competition was conducted on BMC campus. Large number of staff of the BMC as well as locals gathered to cheer the contestants. According to community organiser of BMC, Smita Das, who conducted the competition, the contestants had to prepare a full course meal adding as many delicacies they could.

Four corporators Sanghamitra Dalai, K. Drakshyama Achari, Jyoti Subudhi and Parvati Pradhan participated in this cookery competition. Each of them prepared five to seven dishes that ranged from biryani to kheer. But they were provided stiff competition by a staff of the BMC, Kuni Patra, who prepared a multi course meal comprising of 38 types of food items. Ms. Patra said she prepared such a multi-course meal which would have the eater desiring for nothing else.

The mouth-watering dishes prepared by the competitors were first judged by the judges and savoured in a joint feast in which corporators and staff of the BMC took part. According to Ms. Das although the winner of the competition had been chosen yet her name had been kept a secret. The winner would be declared during the self governance day celebration function by the BMC on Friday.
