Bellary records 71 per cent polling

Bellary district recorded 71.58 polling in Thursday’s elections to the 10 urban local bodies, with 3.71 lakh out of the 5.19 lakh electorate exercising their franchise.

The highest polling of 80.95 per cent was recorded in Tekkalakota in Siruguppa taluk, while Bellary city recorded the least with 67.44 per cent polling. In Kamalapur Town Panchayat, 80.92 per cent voting was recorded, followed by Kudligi Town Panchayat with 79.92 per cent, Kottur Town Panchayat with 77.84 per cent, Hadagali Town Municipal Council with 76.11 per cent, Sandur Town Municipal Council with 76.28 per cent, Siruguppa Town Municipal Council with 75.89 per cent, Kampli Town Municipal Council with 75.46 and Hospet City Municipal Council with 71.84. Counting of votes will be on March 11. District Election Officer Amlan Aditya Biswas visited the Government Polytechnic here on Friday and inspected the arrangements being made for the counting. He gave directions to the officials concerned about counting.
