72 per cent voting in Chitradurga

The district recorded 72.48 per cent polling in the six urban local body elections held on Thursday.

In a press release issued here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner V.P. Ikkeri said that polling for the 35 wards of the city municipal council here stood at 68.83 per cent. In Challakere, 28,263 of the 36,250 voters exercised their franchise, 77.97 per cent. In Hiriyur, the voting percentage was 71.46 with 25,933 of the 36,290 voters casting their votes.

In Hosadurga, 72.07 per cent voting was recorded with 14,433 of the 20,027 citizens exercised their franchise. In Holalkere, 7,989 of the 9,789 people cast their votes, 81.68 per cent.

Molakalmur recorded 82.51 per cent voting with 9,679 of the 11,730 voters exercising their franchise.
