Even though the State Election Commission is yet to announce the date for urban body elections, Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finished around 90 per cent of the work for the polls ahead.

Berhampur Municipal Corporation which had opened an election cell on its premises in April last year, under the supervision of an additional district magistrate, on Monday presented the voters and booths list at an all party meeting to facilitate submission of objections, if any.

The Municipal body has a total of 2,25,909 voters in its 40 wards.

Sources said that the Municipality authorities have planned to set up 219 booths.

Leaders of different political parties were told at the meeting that their objections regarding voters and booths list need to be submitted in the election cell by Tuesday as the final list is scheduled to be sent to the State Election Commission for approval on June 7.
