44 Municipal Commissioners transferred

HYDERABAD: The axe finally fell on Kurnool Municipal Corporation Commissioner B. Dhananjaya who has been transferred from his post.

Mr. Dhananjaya was one among the 44 Municipal Commissioners transferred on Tuesday and he has not been given new posting. Mr. Dhananjaya’s transfer comes in the light of the criticism from the Opposition parties over the tardy pace of relief and rehabilitation works in Kurnool following its inundation by backwater of Krishna River on October 2.

He was asked to report to the Commissioner and Director of the Municipal Administration.

He will be replaced by the Adoni Municipal Commissioner Ch. Vijayalakshmi who was posted as Additional Commissioner Kurnool Municipal Corporation and given full additional charge as the commissioner.

The transfers, according to sources, is seen as an initial step by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah who is reportedly working out modalities for a major overhaul in administrative set up to ensure smooth functioning of his government. Orders pertaining to a minor reshuffle of senior IPS officers with immediate effect were also issued on Tuesday.
