Because of this, many voters are not aware as to which polling booth they have to visit for casting their vote on November 23. A solution to this problem is now at hand. Voters can know information on their polling booth in a jiffy on their mobile phone by just sending an SMS.

To make things easy for the voters, the GHMC has come out with a web search. To know the details of polling booths, the voter has to log on to www.Pollingbooth.in or www.ghmc.gov.in.

There are two easy options to identify the relevant polling station.

One is by using the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number and the other is by the house number. The voter should type the GHMC voter ID number and then SMS to 56677. In a few seconds, the voter will receive the message containing the address and details of the polling stations.

If the voter does not possess a voter identity card, the alternative is using the house number. The voter should type GHMC HNO and SMS to 56677.

In a few seconds, he or she will receive the address of the poling station.

The web-based search has been developed by Hyderabad-based Gray Logics Technologies.

The method was proved a success during the general election held in April this year.
