Civic body to take call on extra FSI for bus utility land

The civic administration has sought the consent of its general body to allow development of an additional 0.5 floor space index (FSI) over and above the permissible FSI of one for a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation land to enable the latter to generate some additional revenue through commercial use of its property.

The proposal, tabled in the general body, says the state government had urged the PMC to allow an additional 0.5 FSI to MSRTC for development of its land in the jurisdiction of civic administration.

However, the MSRTC had requested an FSI of one for commercial use. “It is necessary to make certain amendments to the development control rules to allow additional FSI to MSRTC for development of property on its land,” Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade said in the proposal. The additional FSI will be used only for commercial use without charging any premium, it said.

The amendment to the Section 37 (1) of MRTP Act 1966 would enable the civic administration to give additional FSI for development of land. However, the civic body has also been asked to seek suggestions and objections on the proposal from citizens.
