Vishnu to hold Rachchabanda in all 59 municipal divisions

Special Correspondent

VIJAYAWADA: A “Rachachabanda” programme will be held in all the 59 municipal divisions in the city in a phased manner in an effort to take administration directly to the people.

Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, addressing a press conference here on Monday, said that the first of such programmes will be held in municipal division number one on December 2. Ministers Galla Aruna Kumari and Kolusu Parthasarathi, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Mayor M.V. Ratna Bindu and others will participate in the programme in which officials of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, APSPDCL, APSRTC and other departments that were involved in providing services to the public would be present.

The people’s representatives will receive representations and grievances from the public and attempt to redress them immediately, Mr. Vishnu said.

The MLA said such programmes would be held in all the 59 municipal divisions as early as possible, subject to the availability of Ministers to conduct it.

Explaining the rationale behind conducting the programme, Mr. Vishnu said that former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had lost his life on September 2 on his way to attend one such programme, which was meant to know if the people were really benefiting from the schemes and programmes of the State government.

The “Rachchabanda” programme was being launched on December 2 as a monthly commemoration programme in line with the ones being organised since the death of Dr. Reddy.

Asked if the programme would be official or was being done on behalf of the Congress party, Mr. Vishnu said that he was conducting the programme on behalf of the Government. Ministers, the Mayor and the corporator of the division concerned would participate and the officials would also be invited.
