Mayor to represent MCD at Copenhagen

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain left on a week-long trip to Copenhagen over the weekend to showcase the various environment-friendly schemes being implemented by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in the Capital.
“I will be giving a presentation on what the civic body is doing in Delhi towards energy conservation and reduction of environmental pollution in the city,” said Dr. Sain before leaving. “I will be apprising the audience on our eco-friendly projects such as the new Civic Centre construction, our garbage-derived fuel scheme and door-to-door garbage collection scheme among other things.”
Dr. Sain would also be meeting the Mayor of New York during his visit and participate in a walk to promote an environment-friendly atmosphere.
“Another feature would be screening of two short documentary films made by the MCD. While one features an interactive session between me and some MCD school students on the topic of environment and reflects the deep concern for climate change issues in our school children, the second documentary would show the civic body’s scheme to promote cycling in the city by creation of a dedicated track for cyclists alongside our road projects.”
