Two nominations filed for BMC polls

Two candidates, seeking to be in the fray of the January 8 Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, filed nominations before the Bhubaneswar Additional District Magistrate (ADM) here on Tuesday.

While BJP candidate Sanosh Mohanty filed his nomination for ward number 5, Aftab Alli of Congress filed his candidature for ward number 64. “I was the corporator of ward number 5 during 2003-08 and took up many developmental activities in the ward then. This time I hope the people of the ward will elect me,” said Santosh after filing his candidature.

Alleging that no development work has been undertaken in his ward during last five years, Aftab said people will certainly prefer him for the betterment of the ward.

Though the filing of nomination stared from Monday, no body submitted their nominations on the first day. The political parties have also not announced their list of candidates for the civic polls.

While more than 300 nomination forms were sold on Monday, a large number of aspirant candidates too made a beeline in front of the ADM office on Tuesday to collect the forms.

The last date for filing of nominations is December 20.
