Civic body suspends issue of birth, death certificates from ward offices

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has suspended its service of issuing birth and death certificate from all its ward office due to technical snag in the server. However, the service will now be available only at Vishrambaugwada in Kasba Peth office.

The technical snag has forced to discontinue the service in all the 14 ward offices of the PMC. The work to repair the server is going on and the service will be resumed later on, PMC PRO Sanjay More said. The online service will also remain affected till the repair work is completed, he added

HYDERABAD: After delimitation of wards in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation GHMC) limits, several voters who may not be aware which ward, polling station and Assembly constituency they have to vote in.

To make things easy for the voters, GHMC has updated this information in their website- www.ghmc.gov.in.

Voters can search their name in ward-wise electoral rolls published as on June 10, 2009. The voters should enter their Voter Identity card number, after which the details of the ward and polling booth will appear. If the voter wants to search for all the members in house than ward number and house number are mandatory.

If they want to search by name, ward number, name and sex is mandatory. For searching the voters name in ward-wise electoral rolls published as on June 10, 2009, one should fill the constituency name, to know in which Assembly Constituency the area belongs than enter locality, area name, voter name, father/ husband name, house no. and sex. It can be recalled here that after the formation of GHMC, it was divided into 150 wards this year as against the earlier 100 wards.

The Supplement-3 list where 2,47,075 eligible persons got enrolled as new voters between March 31 and October 28 this year will be published on November 12. They will be eligible to vote in the GHMC elections. As on June 10, 2009 there are as many as 54,47,111 voters in the Greater Hyderabad limits.

PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has started biometric attendance system for some of its departments at its main office building on a trial basis.

Speaking to TOI on Tuesday, Ashish Sharma, municipal commissioner, said the utility of the system is being checked through the trials. "We have not received any complaints about the attendance of the civic employees. But, we have started it on our own to improve the attendance. It will record the attendance in more efficient manner. We will check the performance of the system for a month," Sharma said. The system will later be used for the entire building and in other zonal offices in the PCMC limits, he added.

Sudhakar Deshmukh, assistant commissioner and chief of administration department, PCMC, said, "One firm has installed the device free of cost. The device verifies the thumb impression of the employee." Currently, 120 employees working in various civic departments on the fourth floor are making use of the system."

Work of registering the thumb impression and details of each of the employees working on fourth floor is in progress and will be completed in the next two days.
