HC expresses concern over absence of Master Plan for Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): A division bench of Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Vikas Jain of the Patna high court on Monday expressed concern over the absence of Master Plan for Patna and said that “planning is DNA of urbanization”.

Taking serious note the Court said the largest formal Master Plan was prepared in 1962.

Criticising the mushrooming growth of illegal high-rise buildings in lanes and by lanes of Patna the court said that petition was perhaps an ample evidence to show that the authorities on whom the responsibility to enforce Municipal laws had been vested with “did not fulfil their obligation, much less comply with the orders of the Court.”

The Court was hearing a petition filed by Narendra Mishra.

Referring to the media reports that Bihar false in seismic zone, where earthquake of higher scale may take place, the bench wondered what would be the extent of the damage on the roads 10-12 feet wide if natural calamity is to strike the state capital.

Vanukuri likely to be VGTMUDA Chairman

Vanukuri Srinivasa Reddy is likely to be chairman of Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri (VGTM) Urban Development Authority as the Congress government began filling up nominated posts just a year before the polls.

A staunch loyalist of Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy, Vanukuri was rewarded for his loyalty to the Congress even in the face of large scale of migration of leaders belonging to Reddy community to YSRC. Mr. Reddy has missed the bus in 2007 when he was tipped to become the chairman of Agricultural Market Committee. But then, Lella Appireddy clinched the post with the support of Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Venukuri was asked to share the term of three years. But the latter refused and since then has been waiting in the wings.

A leader who has emerged from the student union, Mr. Srinivasa Reddy held important positions in Youth Congress and was PCC secretary.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana on Tuesday visited Yarada to assess the possibility of an alternative road between Yarada and Gangavaram jetty. The GVMC has already taken up the BT road at a cost of Rs.1.2 crore following a request by Gajuwaka MLA Ch. Venkatramaiah . However, Gangavaram port had been allotted 260 acres and since the road ran through the site, it wanted the road to be taken up on another route.
