VUDA promises more for children

VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj has promised children more activities once the construction of VUDA Children Arena is completed. The arena would be ready by November 14, he said.

Addressing the valedictory of the VUDA summer camp, he complimented teachers and parents for associating themselves with the camp and the participants for displaying their talent. He gave away certificates to the children including those who came to the city on vacation from Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ramagundam and Delhi. The camp was conducted from May 1.

Felicitated

Dr. Yuvaraj felicitated dance teachers S. Murali Babu and Nirmala, magician Ravishankar and Naveena (drawing and painting) and Amrutha (western dance) for training the children.

The 200 participants in the camp presented a two-hour cultural show. Dance programmes “Dasavataralu” and “Sivatandavam” were the highlights.

DRO M. Venkateswara Rao, former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University V. Balamohan Das, VUDA Secretary G.C. Kishore Kumar and Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao participated.

Promises to work for all-round development of the city.

Ch. Vijayalakshmi, new Commissioner of the municipal corporation on Wednesday promised to attend to people’s civic woes speedily and strive hard to give a facelift to the fast-expanding city.

Taking over charge from outgoing Municipal Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu, she said with her experience in handling civic issues in different cities and towns, she would do her best to resolve water, drainage and other civic woes and usher in all-round development of the city. Accepting a tree sapling from Volunteer Environment Organisation chairman G. Veerabhadrachari, she said she would contribute her might to the cause of ‘Green Ongole’. Earlier, she had served in different capacities including the Additional Mission Director of the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA).

Summer camp ends today

Dance programmes ‘Dasavataralu’ and ‘Sivatandavam’ will be the major attractions at the conclusion of VUDA summer camp for children at Gurajada Kalakshetram on Wednesday evening.

Western, classical and folk dances are also part of the programme in which a total of 200 children will participate.

VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj will give away certificates.
