City to have 2 Logistics parks

Want to grab a bite? How about a trip to the truckstop outside town? For those who think truckstops are grimy down-at-heel places, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Authority (HMDA) is planning a makeover, building two Logistic Parks replete with dhabas, cafeterias and restaurants cheek-by-jowl with truck workshops, petrol pumps and weighbridges.

The HMDA has proposed to develop these parks at Batasingaram and Mangalapally on the city outskirts. These Logistic Parks would be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The HMDA has invited Request for Proposal (RFP) and set September 15 as the deadline for submitting bids.

Speaking to Express, HMDA officials said they have identified 40 acres of land at Batasingaram village, Abdullapurmet in Ibrahimpatnam mandal, located adjacent to the NH-9 and about 7 kms from the Outer Ring road (ORR ) towards Vijayawada. It would be built at a cost of Rs 35 crore.

The other one would be developed at Mangalapally located near ORR towards Nagarjuna Sagar in an area of 22 acres. It would be developed at a cost of Rs 20 crore.

The successful bidder should complete the two Logistic Parks in two years from the date of signing of the concession agreement, an HMDA official added.

Once completed, the parks would have truck parking for about 500 trucks, warehousing in 1 lakh sq ft, cold-storage facilities for storing 4,000 MT of goods, office complex for operators, automobile service centres and accessories, vehicle testing centre, fire safety services, driver amenities, dormitories and accommodation for up to 200-300 persons.

They would also have support facilities like internal road network, parking areas with hard pavement to sustain truck/trailer loads, security, water supply, noise and air pollution prevention arrangements, rain-water harvesting, sewage treatment, solid waste management, landscaping and other services. Officials informed the RFP would be issued from August 2 to 26 and the last date for receipt of queries is August 20.

The HMDA will then hold a pre-bid meeting and site visits on August 20.
