PCNTDA hands over Rs 24 cr to PCMC

PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has received an amount of Rs 24.16 crore from the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) as the first instalment for construction of Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) passing through the PCNTDA limits.

V T Bhosale, chief accounts officer, PCMC, said, "We received a cheque of Rs 24.16 crore on November 4."

Dilip Kudale, co-ordinator, civic engineering department, said, "The PCMC has sought Rs 55 crore from the PCNTDA for construction of the BRTS stretches. Two BRTS routes, namely, Aundh-Ravet road and Kalewadi phata-Dehu Alandi road pass through the PCNTDA limits."

Kudale said that the portion of the Kalewadi phata-Dehu-Alandi road BRTS route from the Chinchwadgaon bridge phata to Pavana river in the Pavananagar area lies in PCNTDA limits. The road will begin near the Chinchwadgaon bridge and will be 1.4 km long and 45 m in width. It will have six lanes for vehicular traffic. Of these, two lanes will be for BRTS buses. There will be a cycle track and a footpath on both sides of the road along with two metre wide parallel parking and three metre wide service lanes on both sides of the road.

Kudale further said that the portion of the Aundh-Ravet road BRTS route from Sai chowk to Dange chowk lies within the PCNTDA limits. This is a three kilometre long stretch with a width of 45 metre. It will have six lanes for vehicular traffic, including two for BRTS buses. A cycle track, footpath, parking space and service lanes will also be provided. The total cost of the 14.5 km long Aundh-Ravet road is Rs 191 crore while the Kalewadi phata-Dehu Alandi road will cost Rs 209.20 crore.
