Corporation to submit projects

For the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) Phase 2 project implementation, the City Corporation will submit projects to be included with various departments as implementing agencies. Projects are in the categories of supply of potable drinking water, sewage water treatment, protection and maintenance of pure drinking water sources, drainage, public transport system, modernisation of urban transport, city development, protection of heritage and solid waste management.

Kerala Water Authority (KWA), Public Works Department (PWD), Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Kerala Police and Departments of Irrigation, Archaeology and Tourism are the implementing agencies for the various projects stated above. Almost 80 per cent of the project expenditure will come as Central Government share and 10 per cent each have to be borne by the State Government and implementing agencies.

Excluding the solid waste management project directly implemented by the Corporation, a detailed project report (DPR) has to be prepared through various government departments and submit it to Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP), the state-level nodal agency (SLNA). On receiving the state-level sanctioning committee’s approval, the projects have to be submitted to the Union Urban Development Ministry and implemented by the departments concerned by remitting the set project share. Cooperation of Town Planning Department, TRIDA, CRDP and NATPAC can be sought while preparing the project report.
