Land Acquisition Continues for Development Projects in District

The Ernakulam District Administration recovered 43.4986 hectares of land for various development projects in the district during the last one year.

A press release from the District Information Office stated that acquisition of land for projects like the Kochi Metro, Ernakulam-Thekkady state highway, Ramamangalam-Thodupuzha road, development of Cochin Refinery and the Maradu-Piravom water distribution project have been done.

The procedures for recovering the land was done after consulting owners of the land and taking them into confidence over the price of their land. The approval for taking over the land would be done after examining the records with the Land Revenue Commissioner.

The press release stated that approval for the Maradu-Piravom water distribution project would be realised by January. The District Administration plans to commission the distribution pipeline by next month. The majority of the land taken over for this project has been handed over to the Kerala Water Authority.

Land Acquisition Deputy Collector M Latha  said that the first phase of development of the Seaport-Airport road from Bharath Matha College to HMT has begun. The discussion over the acquisition of land in various places and fixing of price for the land is ongoing.
