'Govt releases ` 3 cr for devt works'

MLA Pramod Madhawaraj said that the  State government has released Rs three crore for taking up various development works, on account of Paryaya Mohatsav in Udupi.

Speaking to mediapersons on Monday, the MLA said the government has released the funds under SFC special grant. The government has also asked to submit an action plan pertaining to the development works immediately. The road repair work is in progress. Most of the potholes of ZP, PWD and district roads have been filled. The amount will be spent on other works that need to accommodate a large number of devotees and also the other constructions to be taken up for Paryaya.

The MLA added that Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister H K Patil has released Rs 15 lakh to repair the ZP roads.


The government has also released an additional Rs three crore for Udupi CMC under SFC special grant. The MLA claimed that the government has allotted a total of six crore in its seven months of administration. The funds will be equally divided among 35 wards, on priority basis.

“Under Nagarotthana scheme, the BJP government had promised to release Rs 30 crore. But in reality, the government had not released the fund. The works are taken up and is funded by the Congress government,”  Madhawaraj said.
