AP to create 51 new urban mandals

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Dec. 7

The State Government has agreed in principle for an administrative proposal to create new urban mandals with the objective of extending better service to the people.

Following a meeting the State Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, and the Revenue Minister, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, had with the revenue department officials, it was decided to re-organise the urban mandals according to the 2001 population data.

Accordingly, 51 new urban mandals will be created along with additional revenue staff. The Government is of the opinion that the creation of these urban mandals will help reduce excess burden faced by the revenue staff in the urban areas.

By reorganising these mandals, according to a press statement, the State Government seeks to provide better field administration in the new urban areas basing them on the population criteria. It is proposed to have additional revenue inspectors to help in the administrative work.
