Drinking water supply project will be completed at a cost of Rs. 9.9 crore
HAVERI: Infrastructure projects worth Rs. 57 crore being executed by the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) with Asian Development Bank assistance were launched in Haveri on Wednesday.
Improvements
Under the projects, drinking water supply network and storm water drains will be improved and slums developed.
Launching the works, Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi, who is the district in charge, said that the projects had been chalked out keeping in mind the requirements of Haveri city for the next 30 years.
Regular supply
The drinking water supply project would be completed in a span of one-and-a-half years at a cost of Rs. 9.9 crore, and on its completion Haveri would get regular water supply even during summer, he said.
Under the Rs. 32.5-crore project to improve the underground drainage system, steps had been taken to divert the sewage from Chikkanakere, near the railway station, he said.
Nursing school
Work on buildings for the Government First Grade College and the railway over-bridge would begin soon, he said. A nursing school would also be started, he said. Shivaraj Sajjanar, MLC, said that during the last one year Rs. 80 crore had been sanctioned to Haveri. He asked the officials to take steps to expedite the implementation of projects that had already been sanctioned.
