Civic body gives nod to 3 LED screens, seeks report on rent of vends

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation has given its approval to the policy of installing three LED screens in Sector 17.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the Finance and Contract Committee of the civic body held today.

The screens would be run and maintained on Public Private Partnership basis. The committee has sought a survey report before reviewing the rent of liquor vends situated on municipal land.

Another report has been sought regarding rent to be charged from commercial shops in villages. Members discussed the terms and conditions for leasing out of the chill room on rent in the newly constructed modern air-conditioned Fish Market in Sector 41. It was discussed that some of booths of the air-conditioned fish, meat and poultry products market would be auctioned. Looking at the response of the first auction, the remaining booths would be auctioned.

Tubewells would be installed in Sector 26 and 48 D. The tubewells that were already there at these locations had been abandoned. The committee has fixed the reserve price of the juice corner, fast food/tea/coffee, chat bhandar at Rs 10,000 as monthly rent.

The civic body would be seeking applications from March 20 to 31 for seeking permission to sell watermelons. The committee gave approval for the issuance of raincoats and gum shoes to the eligible group C and D employees on field duty. The committee has fixed rates for booking of community centre, Sector 11, at Rs 6,000 for the full day and Rs 3,000 for half day for the ground floor, Rs 4,000 for full day and Rs 2,000 for half day for first floor. Another meeting would be held on March 22 to take a decision on shifting of taxi stands from some locations. The meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Mayor Anu Chatrath and attended by Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria and other members of the committee
