Sector 76-80 allottees to stage protest today

Mohali: The allottees of Sector 76-80 will stage a massive demonstration against the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) here on Wednesday. The Plot Allotment Sangharsh Committee has roped in several other unions to lay siege to PUDA Bhawan in Sector 62 here at 10 am onwards.“We are demanding the speedy development and draw of remaining plots in Sectors 76 to 80,” said committee general secretary Parmdeep Singh Bhabat here today. They have appealed to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to take personal interest for the allotment of plots and punish the delinquent officers concerned, who were creating hindrances in conducting the final draw.
The committee, which was spearheading the cause of those allotted plots in 2001 but were not yet given their possession, plans to stage a massive protest dharna and even block traffic, said Bhabat.
The allottees were up in arms against the delay in allotment of 351 remaining plots.The alleged that despite instructions of even CM and favourable decision of the legal litigation from the apex court, the GMADA officials concerned were making “lame excuses” to further delay the remaining allotments.
