MC demolishes 3 shops at AC market

A police team backed up the MC personnel carrying out the five-hour-long demolition drive at the AC Market at Bahadur House.
Ludhiana: High drama was witnessed at the AC Market today as the Municipal Corporation carried out a demolition drive. Shopkeepers downed shutters all of a sudden when the Building Branch team reached the market. Later, they tried to stop the drive.
Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Kamalpreet Kaur and Municipal Town Planner (MTP) Tirlok Singh had accompanied the police force. The drive started around noon and it took nearly 5 hours for the MC team to demolish three shops in the basement, one office and a security room on the top floor.
A few more shops are still left which may be demolished in the next visit. The MC team indicated that all those shops which had been constructed against the MC plan and even in violation of building bylaws are being demolished.
