Palike razes encroachments

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) recovered property worth about `10 crore after clearing illegal encroachments on the 'Rajakaluve' in Chokksandra ward. More than 17 houses and 28 commercial establishments were torn down. A total of threeandhalf acres and 630 metres of the Rajakaluve was recovered.

It was also observed that the land, originally belonging to the KIADB, was later transferred to the BBMP. The Palike also observed that individuals had constructed homes and commercial establishments with political influence. The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) and nearly 100 policemen accompanied the Joint Commissioner Radhakrishna to recover land. A Palike press release stated that the court had ordered the eviction of illegal encroachers in the area.
